Render cleaning covers painted, sand-and-cement, pebbledash and roughcast walls as well as modern through-coloured systems. Each behaves differently, so establishing what you actually have comes first.
Work is carried out at low pressure with a cleaning solution rather than force, one full elevation at a time so the wall dries evenly instead of leaving tide marks part-way down.
Suitable for
Painted, traditional, pebbledash and modern rendered walls
Main problem addressed
Green algae, black staining and weathering on render
Service area

How to clean old renderCleaning an older rendered wall with soft washing.
What causes render to discolour
Most discolouration is organic — algae and lichen living on a damp, textured surface. Coastal exposure and shade make it worse, and anything that keeps the wall wet, such as an overflowing gutter, accelerates it dramatically.
The approach
Render is soft washed at low pressure using a solution that treats the growth itself. Windows, planting and drainage are considered first, and the wall is worked in complete elevations for an even result.
Suitable finishes
Sand and cement render
Pebbledash and roughcast
Painted masonry
Silicone and thin-coat renders including K-rend
How the finishes differ
Traditional sand and cement render is the most forgiving, but it is often painted, and heavy pressure will strip the paint along with the algae. Pebbledash holds growth deep in the aggregate, so it needs a treatment that works on the organism rather than a surface blast.
Painted masonry is cleaned at low pressure to protect the coating. Thin-coat silicone renders such as K-rend are the most sensitive of all — the colour runs right through a thin layer, and aggressive cleaning leaves permanent patching. Each wall is identified before anything is chosen.
What customers said about render cleaning
Rob cleaned the K Rend on my house today and it looks great. I didntvrealuse how dirty it was. He's done a first class job. Thanks Rob, I'd recommend your services. He also does my windows
Years of green and grey staining had spread across the rear render, heaviest below the windows and around the roofline where the wall stays damp longest.
The work
The wall was soft washed at low pressure using Sovereign's cleaning solutions, with the decking, planting and glazing covered before work started.
The result
The render came back to an even off-white across the whole elevation, including the areas under the windows.
