Roof moss treatment & top-up

A maintenance treatment for roofs that have already had the heavy moss removed — rather than waiting until a full clean is needed all over again.

Once a roof has been properly cleaned, the sensible next step is keeping on top of it. A treatment top-up is a lighter visit aimed at holding the finish and slowing regrowth, and on a suitable roof it is far less work — and less money — than a second full clean a few years later.

It is not automatically suitable for every roof. If heavy moss has already come back, or the covering has deteriorated, a top-up is the wrong service and Rob will say so.

A starting price, not a fixed one. Every roof is priced individually and plenty will be more — nobody should imply that every roof can be treated for £350.

The price depends on:

· Roof size, pitch and the number of separate elevations
· Condition of the covering and any previous damage
· Access — parking, conservatories, extensions and awkward ground
· Location and travelling distance from Cleveleys
· How much moss and growth is present at the time
· What treatment the roof actually needs

How Roof Care works

Four stages, from the first clean through to keeping the roof that way.

1. Initial professional roof clean
Accumulated moss and debris are removed using a method matched to the covering and its condition, and the gutters are cleared afterwards because everything taken off the roof ends up in the rainwater system.
2. Treatment
The roof is treated with sodium hypochlorite and biocide as part of the cleaning process. The treatment carries on working after the visit, so the roof usually keeps improving in appearance over the following weeks.
3. 2-Year Moss Regrowth Guarantee
Qualifying roof cleaning and treatment work carries the two-year moss regrowth guarantee, so significant regrowth inside that window can be assessed and, where covered, re-treated at no extra charge.
4. Future Roof Care Top-Up
On suitable roofs a later treatment helps hold the finish and reduces the likelihood of needing another heavy clean. It is maintenance, rather than waiting until the roof is overgrown again.

Why there is no fixed annual interval

Roof Care is deliberately not sold as an annual treatment. Roofs differ far too much for that, and promising a fixed yearly visit would be selling work rather than maintaining a roof. How often a roof actually benefits from treatment depends on:

Shade across the pitch through the day
How much moisture the roof holds after rain
Surrounding vegetation and overhanging branches
Roof orientation — north-facing pitches regrow fastest
Local conditions, including coastal damp on the Fylde Coast
How heavy the previous moss growth was
Roof construction and the type of covering

Where Sovereign has completed a qualifying roof clean and treatment, significant moss regrowth within the following two years can be assessed and, where it is covered by the guarantee, the affected area re-treated at no additional charge.

The guarantee covers qualifying moss regrowth. It is not a promise that a roof will stay completely free of every trace of growth, staining or weathering for two years — no honest cleaner can promise that.

Neighbour Discount

Two neighbouring roofs, booked together

If you and a neighbour arrange your roof cleaning for the same visit, both properties can receive a discount. Setting up access once and working two roofs in a row saves time on site, and that saving is passed back.

It works particularly well on terraced and semi-detached streets around Cleveleys, Thornton-Cleveleys and Blackpool, where neighbouring roofs face the same way and tend to grow moss at the same rate.

The guarantee is against qualifying moss regrowth. It is not a promise that a roof will remain completely free of every trace of growth, staining or weathering, and coverage is subject to:

The condition and construction of the roof at the time of the original clean
The treatment originally carried out and the service actually booked
Any subsequent roof repairs, alterations or work by others
Environmental conditions such as heavy shade, overhanging trees and roof orientation
Safe access being available for an assessment and any re-treatment
Any exclusions Sovereign specifies in writing when the work is quoted
