How often should windows be cleaned?
There is no single correct interval. What matters is how quickly your particular property picks up dirt, and that varies a lot even within one street.
On the Fylde Coast the main factors are salt carried in off the sea, windblown sand and grit, and traffic on nearby roads.
What makes windows dirty faster
- An exposed seafront or open coastal position
- A busy road, junction or bus route nearby
- Trees dropping sap, blossom or debris
- Building or roadworks in progress close by
- Elevations that catch the prevailing weather
Choosing a frequency
Most homes settle on a regular round that keeps the glass consistently presentable rather than swinging between clean and badly weathered.
Commercial premises with a shopfront usually need it more often than a house, simply because the frontage is what customers see first.

Why regular beats occasional
Dirt left to build up over a season is harder to shift and more likely to leave marking on frames and seals. Keeping ahead of it is quicker, gentler on the frames and gives a better result each visit.
